City-Bush Retreat is blessed with a very unusual combination of qualities.

It is surrounded by rainforest but with lots of sun. Right on the edge of the city but with the qualities of calm and peacefulness you would normally only find in a remote rural retreat.

We’ve had a lovely restful time. The bush around the house is superb and we love the Kauri, walkway and bridge, stream and waterfall, and glow worms.

The Apartment

City-Bush Retreat unites the uniquely New Zealand architecture of the “The Group Movement” with the best of modern amenities maximizing sun and views. The Group was known for their provocative calls for a specifically New Zealand architecture and for their modern houses, often characterised by exposed timbers, open-plan interiors and new attention to indoor-outdoor living.

The Property

In addition to rainforest and birdlife there is a stream running through the property which  has a small population of New Zealand’s fresh water crayfish.

The Village

It’s a short four minute drive to Titirangi Village with cafés, restaurants, galleries and shops.

Walks Near By

Fantastic scenery makes the area a favourite with photographers, writers, artists, musicians and nature lovers. There is a stunning variety of landscapes, birds & botanical material and Titirangi is still an authentic “source point” for metro Auckland.

This is indeed a lovely place! We enjoyed our short stay here tremendously and look forward to coming again for a longer stay in the near future.
